University of Richmond’s Academic Skills Center
This project was done on behalf of the University to optimize and restructure the school’s tutoring services to best meet the needs of the student body. Adam began with the research question “how do we get more students to use tutoring services?” From there the team dove into secondary research learning everything they could about the client and the industry they operate in. From there Adam’s team conducted quantitative and qualitative primary research in the form of surveys and focus groups. The data was analyzed using SPSS software to provide statistical certainty before we generated solutions.
The findings resulted in the overhaul of the tutoring services scheduling procedure as well as expanded offerings to include one on one video tutoring and large study groups prior to exams. The solutions led to increased scheduled tutoring sessions dramatically and awareness of the organization jumped as students utilized the new offerings.
